We’re incredibly lucky to be welcoming Sean Kempton back to The Lyric this November for a FREE WORKSHOP!
Sean’s company, Kook Ensemble, were here earlier in the year with their beautiful show Sand. Sean himself is an international performer, director and teacher specialising in contemporary clown, circus and ensemble-based theatre. He co-directs Kook Ensemble alongside Michaela O’Connor.
Sean teaches clowning, physical ensemble performance, devising and act creation – for everyone from complete beginners to seasoned professionals. Drawing on over 20 years of experience, his teaching is always playful, detailed and inspiring.
He’s worked with the National Institute of Circus Arts (Australia), the National Centre for Circus Arts (UK), Cirque du Soleil, Dragone and Trestle, to name just a few.

Who it’s for: Anyone over 18 – emerging or established creatives alike.
What to expect: A playful, practical workshop exploring how to bring your own spirit of play into an ensemble setting.
What it covers: KOOK explores the boundaries between comedy and tragedy – what makes a moment beautiful, painful and funny all at once. It’s about challenging your perspective, being bold, and reimagining your work with fresh eyes.
