Following the brilliant response to Frank Wurzinger’s workshop at The Lyric in 2024, we’re delighted to welcome him back for another day of clowning, play and exploration.
Frank is an award-winning theatre-maker, actor and modern clown whose workshops are playful, physical and open to anyone interested in discovering more about themselves as a performer.

The workshop
A workshop for anyone interested in playing – in life or on stage. What happens when clowns meet normal people?
We’ll explore the pleasure of being ourselves, dropping our social masks, taking risks and being open in a supportive environment. You don’t need to be funny – the aim is to have fun and be real, break rules and disobey!
Using a mixture of physical exercises, improvisation games and clowning techniques, we’ll create clown theatre and explore the performer–audience relationship.
We’ll begin to discover and release our inner idiot, follow our impulses, and experiment with improvisation and devising from a state of clown. There will also be opportunities to explore playing for an audience in public spaces.

Led by puppet & prop maker extraordinaire Holly Miller, Puppet Club returns with a fun, creative 5-week course for all ages and abilities (6- 106).
Tuesdays, 5:00–6:30pm
Starting Tuesday 24 February
Downstairs in The Lyric’s fantastic auditorium
Over five weekly sessions, participants will design and create their very own puppet using recycled and craft materials such as paper, masking tape, papier mâché, fabrics, paints, buttons and more. Let your imagination run riot as you bring an animal or character to life – and take your finished puppet home at the end of the course!
No experience necessary — everyone is welcome.
Ages 6–106 (under 8s must be accompanied by an adult).
Cost: £45 for the full course
