We welcome all members of the community and hope to make your visit to the Lyric as comfortable as possible. However the Lyric is a Grade II listed building so we have not been able to adapt it as much as we would like to ensure full accessibility.

Wheelchair Users

There is a metal ramp available to access the Lyric auditorium from Rax Lane. Please ask the steward at the box office by the front door and they will install it immediately. If you are able to let the Tourist Information Centre box office know at the time of booking your ticket that you will require use of the ramp they will endeavour to let us know ahead (though as we are infrequently in the office and our stewards are volunteers we do not always receive messages ahead of the performance). Once in the building the whole ground floor (auditorium, bar, toilet) is level access. Please advise a steward where you wish to be seated; the auditorium chairs are not fixed.

Upstairs Access

There is a flight of stairs with a halfway return to access the first floor, where the office and puppet workshop space are. If you wish to join Puppet Club or any workshops that are taking place in the puppet space but the stairs pose a barrier, please let us know and we can adapt the workshop/course to be run in the auditorium with enough advance notice.

Emergency prodecures

In the unlikely event it should become necessary to evacuate the building, the Duty Manager will address the audience and, along with our stewards, will provide directions on the best route of evacuation using both hand gestures and vocal instructions.

Toilets

There are two single toilets, both on the ground floor, one is partially accessible and also has a baby changing unit.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in the building with their owners.
